Description

40 YEARS OF RADICAL LEARNING
AND COMMUNITY ACTION
A CELEBRATION

6PM - 8PM RECEPTION – Catch up and Sharing Memories
8PM-12AM Ceilidh and Entertainment

ALP started as an adult education and community development project in September 1979. A group of local women, supported by Community Education workers, recieved funding following a successful pilot. Four workers were employed to launch informal educational groups based around the needs and wants of the local community. From the start, ALP adopted and adapted the problem-posing educational methods proposed by Brazilian educator Paulo Freire. Within a couple of years this approach was drawing increasing numbers of learners and activists, and the ALP Association was born, allowing the project to expand and incorporate more classes, projects and cultural and political action.

The present day ALP Association is opening an invitation to all of those who have been part of this remarkable journey over the years so we can come together and celebrate the force for learning, liberation, autonomy and change that ALP has inspired, both locally and internationally.

We already know that some of our friends from the Breton Exchanges and the Robert Fish Band will be joining us and we do hope you will as well!
