ADS Santa Fun Run 2019


Fun for all the Family! 

 Raising money to support LOCAL People with Dementia, their Carers & Families in Windsor, Ascot, Maidenhead, Slough, Langley & all points between.

WHAT IS THE 'ADS' SANTA FUN RUN?

  • 'ADS' Santa Fun is a 'Run for Fun in a Santa Suit' to raise money for Alzheimers Dementia Support 'ADS'.
  • It's a 5k Run or .... walk / wheel / jog (approx 3.1 miles) once round Dorney Lake. 
  • Please encourage as many people to take part or sponsor you as you can. 
  • Challenge your colleagues or simply smash your personal best. 
  • Dogs on leads, children on scooters / in pushchairs and wheelchair participants are all welcome
  • Please see the T’s & C’s for all Health & Safety requirements for all participants.

On the day after you have completed the Run you will receive:

On the day after you have completed the Run you will receive:

PRIZES will also be awarded for the following categories:

  • Fastest Time and Runner Up Male
  • Fastest Time and Runner Up Female
  • Best Dressed Wheels (pushchair, wheelchair or scooter)
  • Best Dressed Dog  

Winners are invited to stay for our official award ceremony at 1pm. Prizes (with the exception of Best Dressed Dog) will be awarded upstairs in the Boat House.

What else is happening on the day?

Our event will be opened by an array of local dignitaries and special guests who will be joining in the fun!

We will have a flash mob dance warm up and a Christmas sing-song before the race is started by our VIP guests.  Post race you will be awarded your finishing medal and certificate as a thank you for your amazing efforts.  

All activities will be held outdoors prior to the run.

 

Where Does the Money you Raise on the 'ADS' Santa Fun Run Go?

'ADS' is a local and independent Charity that assists, guides and actively supports people living with Dementa, their Carers and families in our local area.  Our services provide engaging, meaninful interactions and activities with advice and a 'someone ready to listen'.  Many of the Services do not need to be -pre-booked.

We work closely with other Agencies to signpost our Members to additionall support and information.

FAQs  

Where do I collect my Santa Suit/Hat & Race Number?

You MUST collect your suit from our Collection Point at Lok'n'Store 

on Friday/Saturday 15th/16th November

OR 

Friday/Saturday 22nd/23rd November 10am-4pm

We will also be handing out your 'ADS'  Bag and Runner's Water bottle to enable you to arrive 'Santa Race Ready' on the day.  There will be water refill stations on site.

How can I FUNdraise for Alzheimers Dementia Support 'ADS'?

Donations of ALL sizes are very gratefully received and is why we do not have a minimum donation pledge for our event....so here's how you can do it:

  • Make an additional donation when you purchase your ticket 
  • Set up  a Just Giving page, either individually or as a team https://www.justgiving.com/alzheimersdementiasupport/donate - pages with £50 or more of donations will be entered into a free Prize Draw
  • 'If you do not wish to set up a Just Giving page you will be offered the opportunity to download a Manual Sponsorship Form once you have registered.  Look for the link in your registation email or contact office.admin@alzheimersdementia support.co.uk for further information. 

Want to win the 'donation prize'?  

  • The workplace is often a great place to raise those extra funds! 
  • Ask your Employer if ....
    • They match employee FUNdraising or make donations or can donate a prize...
    • For permission to display our Santa Fun Run poster
    • You can bake some mince pies or other goodies for donations at work

On the Day:

  • The event is open from 11 a.m.
  • Pre-race warmup at 11.35 a.m.
  • 'Starters orders' at 11.45 a.m.
  • Prize Giving 1 p.m.
  • Event closes at 2pm

What is the refund policy? 

All registration fees are non-refundable or transferable. 

Cancellation: 
The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event in exceptional circumstances… e.g. Met Office severe weather warning or conditions arising which impact H&S.  Regrettably no refunds can be given due to costs incurred to the Charity.

Is the course measured?
The track around Dorney is not officially measured but is an approximate 5k distance which is 3.1 miles
 
Is the Race Timed?
There will be a visible race clock donated for the the event by Maidenhead Athletic Club 'MAC'
Volunteers from 'MAC' will be taking the times of the first and second fastest Male & Female ONLY.
No Number ..... No Time - your race number must be clearly displayed on your chest for a time to be noted. 

Disabled Access:

We welcome wheelchair Santas.  Disabled parking is at the side of the Boat House, disabled toilets are next to Reception at the main building and there is lift access to first floor. 

Prize Draws:

The Grand Prize Draws for Just Giving Pages, School Prize & Team Prize will be drawn or presented at our Award Ceremony which takes place upstairs in the Boat House at 1pm - you are welcome to join us!

 On site - please be aware of the following: 

  • Please do not park on the grass verges - car parking is free and there will be marshals to guide you.
  • Please do not leave children or dogs unaccompanied (please clean up after your dogs).
  • Please be aware that there are no cloak room or storage facilities at the venue (Eton College Rowing Lake, Dorney).  
  • The Venue or Organisers (‘ADS’) can in no way be held responsible for any injury or illness incurred during, or as a result of the event, or for any property lost, stolen or damaged. 
  • All participants must follow instructions given by the Race Officials, 'ADS" Volunteers, 'ADS' Staff and SJA Medical advisors.
  • All participants must conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner.
  • A fun run number will be provided to each participant which they must wear prominently and they should write their name and address and state any special medical conditions they may have on the reverse side
  • Participants are asked to wear the Santa Suits provided or of their own choosing, but recognise that do so at their own risk.
  • Baby joggers, strollers and wheelchairs etc, where safe to do so, are permitted on the course as are pets as long as they are under control and cause no damage or risk to other participants.
  • Those with wheeled equipment and pets are asked to start the race at the official start time but will be started from the back of the group of fun runners.
  • The Official start time is the only time any participants will be allowed on the course.
  • All participants are requested to take part in a short ‘warm-up’ 10 minutes prior to the Official start time.
  • First Aiders/Medical support will be available and all participants agree to accept, what is deemed to be, appropriate treatment and advice should any illness/injury occur.

Alzheimers Dementia Support ‘ADS’  is a local independent Charity that assists, guides and actively supports people living with Dementia, their Carers and families in our local area.

Our services provide engaging, meaningful interactions and activities with advice and a 'someone ready to listen'.  Many of these Services are 'pop in' and do not need to be pre-booked.

We also work closely with other Agencies to signpost our Members to additional support and information.
