What will we do?

Mixing storytelling and song this brand new show celebrates the lives of two much-loved men, Mozart and Burns, and the sometimes surprising similarities between them.

A talented cast of singers and instrumentalists blend traditional Burns folk tunes with music from some of Mozart’s most popular operas – from the magical and mystical in Tam O’Shanter and The Magic Flute to the heartfelt declarations of love in A Red, Red Rose and The Marriage of Figaro.

Fun and full of energy, dramatic and emotive, Amadeus & The Bard will bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. So come in, pull up a chair and get ready for some great entertainment!

Conceived, written and directed by Mary McCluskey, former Artistic Director of Scottish Youth Theatre, with new arrangements by Music Director Karen MacIver, one half of award-winning duo PianoPiano. The cast includes renowned Scottish actor Andy Clark; Arthur Bruce, one of Scottish Opera’s Emerging Artists for 2019/20; Samling Young Artist Stephanie Stanway; and a four-voice ensemble from the Scottish Opera Young Company.

Running time of performance 1 hour, followed by 30 minutes Q&A session with the cast

Amadeus & The Bard: 18th Century Cosmic Brothers is supported by Barcapel Foundation, Edith Rudinger Gray Charitable Trust, The Holywood Trust & Scottish Opera's Education Angels

Your class can also visit the exhibition Wild and Majestic: Romantic Visions of Scotland before or after your show, free of charge. Please select this option in the online booking form.
