Description

HE Under the Microscope

Never before have Higher Education providers been under such scrutiny from so many. With the Prime Minister promising a ‘major review’ of HE funding and finance, a parliamentary enquiry into value for money, the glare of the media on Vice-Chancellor pay, the continuing evolution of TEF and an increasing interest in metrics across the board, Universities cannot help but feel under examination and that is before we see the introduction of the new Office for Students.

The 2018 AMHEC conference aims to explore some of these topics and help members consider how their institutions and they personally may need to respond to and manage these challenges.

With speakers from within and external to the sector the 2018 conference is a must for your professional calendar.

Speakers confirmed include:

  • Gordon McKenzie, Chief Executive Officer, GuildHE

  • David Barrett, Assistant Director, Office For Fair Access

  • Amatey Doku, Vice-President (High Education), NUS

  • Seth Fleet, Lead Data Scientist, Analysis and Research, UCAS

  • Vicky Howlett, Senior Assurance Advisor, HEFCE/ Office for Students

  • James O’ Donohugue, National College of Teaching and Leadership

  • Eversheds Sutherland Solicitors

  • Sam Johnson, Deputy Director of Education, Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education

  • Nic Streatfield, Head of Student Support, York St John University

Provisional programme available here

Under the theme of HE under the microscope we will be exploring topics such as what is ‘value’ in HE, the latest student recruitment statistics and demographics, the role of the Office for Students and student support in the media. There will also be sessions looking at more practical matters such as the implications of GDPR and current legal issues relevant to HE.

AMHEC prides itself on encouraging open and honest dialogue between members and so as ever there will be plenty of opportunity to network with colleagues and with such a vast range of expertise in the room this is always much valued by attendees.

The annual conference is the highlight of the year for AMHEC and this year promises to be no different.
