Amigurumi Crochet Workshop: Make Your Own Small Toys!
Join us for a fun and creative Amigurumi Crochet Workshop, where you’ll learn how to make adorable, hand-crafted crochet toys! This is an improver workshop, you will need to know how to do double crochet stitch or have some experience with crochet. This hands-on session will guide you through the charming world of amigurumi—the Japanese art of crocheting small, stuffed creatures.
In this workshop, you’ll:
- Learn the basics of amigurumi techniques, including the magic ring, increases, and hidden decreases.
- Follow a simple pattern to create your very own small toy gonk/ gnome.
- Get tips on stuffing, shaping, and adding expressive features to bring your creation to life.
- Take home a finished amigurumi toy—and the skills to make many more!
We can provide basic scrap yarn for your project but we would recommend that you purchase a double knit cotton yarn in the colour that you would like to use and a 3mm hook. We recommend that you use bright colours as dark colours can be difficult for inexperienced people as you cannot always see where you are placing your stitches.
If you are unsure of what to purchase, please email charlotte@greenerandcleaner.co.uk for recommendations.
We can provide the stuffing to stuff your toy.
We will be making the smaller Gonk in the workshop but you will be provided with the pattern for the larger gonk to try at home.
We regularly take photographs at our events to support us explaining what we do, and keep our funders informed. If for any reason you would prefer not to have your image included, please discuss this on arrival with the event leader
