Event description

Description

Are you looking to use the media to publicise your group’s events and attract new members?

This one day course will take participants through the whole process of attracting media involvement with a stress on practical exercises throughout.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants:

* Will understand the key principles of writing press releases and diary notes and have reviewed their own approach to drafting press releases

* Will feel more confident about dealing with interviews with representatives of the media after rehearsing the skills involved

* Will have formed an action plan on how to develop local media involvement

Participants are asked to bring along a press release of their own about a past or future Amnesty event but this is not a condition of attendance.

Course Tutors

Colin Taylor and Erum Dahar, Regional Media Support Officers (North West). Representative from Amnesty UK Media Team.

Target Group

The course is principally aimed at members of Amnesty groups in the North West of England who wish to learn or develop media skills, but we will accept applications from elsewhere in the UK. The maximum number of participants is 21 so early application is advised.

Cost

There will be a charge of £6 per participant towards the cost of lunch and refreshments.
