Description

The Student Conference is a chance for Amnesty UK’s student activists to come together, hear from our campaign experts, learn new skills and make connections.

The programme will be jam-packed full of workshops, creative spaces and discussions including a key note speech from Human Rights Defender Sakris Kuplia. We’ll also elect our new Student Action Network (StAN) Committee and hold our Student Annual General Meeting (AGM).

We guarantee you’ll leave full of inspiration and ideas for you group whilst making lots of new friends.

  • Learn new campaigning skills at a range of discussions and interactive workshops.
  • Meet students from all over the UK and find out what other student groups are up to.
  • Participate in the Student Action Network Annual General Meeting + Student Action Network committee elections.
  • Take action for our BRAVE campaign on the streets of London.

Cost: £20 per person – this covers the cost of the conference and meals throughout the event. As accommodation is limited we will only be able to offer it to those travelling to the conference from outside of London.

Tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis, up to a maximum of 8 places per student group.

A small number of travel bursaries will be available (see below)

The conference and evening meal will be held at the Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London, EC2A 3EA. Accommodation will be at the nearby Dictionary Hostel Hoxton for those who are based outside of London.

As a delegate at the conference, you will be provided with

  • Hostel accommodation (for those travelling from outside of London)
  • Meals throughout the conference (lunch and evening meal on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday)

Registration will open at 9am on Saturday 11th November. The conference will finish at 5pm on Sunday 12th November.


Travel Bursaries

In order to make the Conference accessible to as many students as possible, we are able to offer a limited number of travel bursaries.

The bursary covers 50% of your travel costs that exceed £20. Eg You will pay £20 of any travel costs, and we will pay 50% of anything over this amount (If your travel costs are £40 we will cover £10)

Limited bursaries are available on a first come first serve basis and will be awarded based on meeting the following criteria:

  • You have asked your Amnesty Society and Students' Union for financial support but have been unsuccessful.
  • Your travel costs will total £20 or more.
  • You book your travel more than 10 days in advance of the Conference.
