About this Event

ACCOMMODATION IS FULLY BOOKED!

On the 2nd & 3rd November 2019 join us in the fight for Human Rights at this years Amnesty Student Conference! This event is for students, led by students. You'll find an exciting mix of creative spaces, discussions, workshops, network elections, on the street activism and entertainment.

This is your opportunity to learn more about Amnesty, get inspired, brush up on your campaigning skills, meet like minded students, have an incredible weekend in London and add your voice to the Amnesty student movement.

Description

The Student Conference is your chance to come together, hear from campaign experts, learn new skills and take action together.

We’ll also elect our new Student Action Network (StAN) Committee and hold our Student Annual General Meeting (AGM).

We guarantee...

  • You’ll leave full of inspiration and ideas for your group.
  • Learn new campaigning skills at a range of discussions and interactive workshops.
  • Meet students from all over the UK and find out what other student groups are up to.
  • Take action on the streets of London.
  • Party up a storm and connect over ethical cuisine on the Saturday night.

Cost

£15 per person - this covers the cost of the conference and meals throughout the event.

£5 for Friday accommodation - space is limited and only for those who are unable to travel on Saturday morning.

£5 for Saturday accommodation - space is limited and only for those based outside of London .

In order to allow as many groups as possible to attend we can only accept 12 delegates from each university. Please liaise with your student group before booking.

Travel bursaries are available (see below).

More details

The conference and evening meal will be held at the Human Rights Action Centre, 17-25 New Inn Yard, London, EC2A 3EA. Accommodation will be at a nearby Hostel for those who are based outside of London.

Registration will open at 9.00am on Saturday 2nd November. The conference will finish at 5pm on Sunday 3rd November.

Overnight

Hostel accommodation (for those travelling from outside of London) is available for the Friday and Saturday nights. This is limited, so we'd recommend booking early.

What you'll get

Meals throughout the conference (lunch and evening meal on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday).

Saturday night entertainment from some amazing artists.

Travel Bursaries

In order to make the Conference accessible to as many students as possible, we are able to offer a limited number of travel bursaries.

The bursary covers 50% of your travel costs.

Limited bursaries are available on a first come first serve basis and will be awarded based on meeting the following criteria:

  • You have asked your Amnesty Society and Students' Union for financial support but have been unsuccessful.
  • Your travel costs will total £20 or more.
  • You book your travel more than 10 days in advance of the Conference.
  • Please note only 2 bursaries are available per student group.
