Event description

Description

The Thematic Network conference is a chance for members of our Children's Rights, LGBTI and Women's networks to get together and share, learn and develop knowledge, skills and techniques to better protect and defend the rights of their network's community.

It is also a chance to get more involved with your network leadership - committees that run the networks are elected at the Thematic Network Conference.

This year, the event is themed around Human Rights Defenders - and how governments across the world are increasingly limiting the space in which they work.

Whatever your experience of Amnesty and human rights - whether you’re a seasoned campaigner or completely new to us - this day is for you. All you need is a commitment to human rights and the desire to play a part in the development of the Amnesty Networks.

The conference is open to all members of Amnesty UK’s three thematic networks:

    • Children's Human Rights Network

    • LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex) Network

    • Women's Action Network

If you are not a member of a Network, that is not a problem! Sign up to the Networks here for free (you may sign up for more than one).

You'll have the chance to:

    • Understand more about Amnesty and the Thematic Networks

    • Hear from, and ask questions to, a panel of Human Rights defenders who will talk about how the shrinking space for human rights defenders across the board particularly impacts on women, children and LGBTI+ individuals.

    • Take part in workshops and training to develop your skills and knowledge

    • Experience Amnesty’s democratic processes in action

    • Meet like-minded people

Elections:

If you are an individual member of Amnesty International UK, you'll be able to take part in elections for your Network(s) Committee members. Join here if you haven't already.

If you're not an individual member, but you are a network member, you can still attend the conference and observe the elections. There'll also be the chance to sign up on the day.

Information about the elections is available on the individual network election pages:

Getting here:

Tube: Old Street (exit 2, toward Great Eastern Street) or Liverpool Street (Bishopsgate West exit). The HRAC is a 5 minute walk from either station.

There is a bike hire/return point directly outside the building.
