Sheffield's General Cemetery is full of life!
Join nature writer and poet Anne Grange for a guided stroll around the beautiful and fascinating General Cemetery, followed by a writing session at the Samuel Worth Chapel.
The final resting place of 87,000 notable and everyday Sheffielders alike, the General Cemetery was the first 'nonconformist' cemetery in England, and it is the final resting place of some of Sheffield's finest (including George Bassett the confectioner and the Cole Brothers whose department store is part of Sheffield lore). However, our inspiration will not be so much drawn from the dead but from the life that flourishes among the headstones.
The cemetery is a designated local nature reserve and is on English Heritage National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
