Systems Participation Masterclass Day

Level 1: Foundations of Practice

Who is this course for?

This masterclass day is aimed at organisations that either engage directly with young people in local communities or that commission and support organisations that do.

It will be especially helpful for:

  • CCGs, CSUs, local Healthwatch and clinical networks who want to ensure the participation of diverse young people in their work
  • Mental health service providers that want to extend the reach of the young people they engage with outside their organisation, as well as promote the influence of their own service users within their local system
  • Organisations like schools, children’s services, youth groups and youth justice settings who would like to support the young people they work with to engage with local decision-making around mental health

  • Identify what local decision-making bodies and processes young people can influence around mental health
  • Use a process to map which groups of young people could be engaged in your local system and describe some strategies for engaging them and the possible motivators, enablers and barriers for young people’s local engagement
  • Describe some of quality criteria for local participation and be able to assess your organisation against them
  • Access a range of resources to support you in developing participation within your organisation

Afternoon session: Introduction to participation, commissioning and local transformation
