A pairing of two generations of captivating singer songwriters, Amy Wadge and Luke Jackson, touring together for the first time across the UK.
!!DOUBLE HEADLINE TOUR!!
Amy Wadge is widely regarded as one of the country's most successful female singer/songwriters. Over the course of five solo albums, two collaborations, numerous compositions for other artists and hundreds of live performances all over the globe, she has established an outstanding body of work. Her voice is simply amazing with a breathtaking range and emotional impact while her songwriting continues to surpass most of her contemporaries.
She has recently written songs with numerous upcoming songwriters, including Ed Sheeran, who released an EP, “Songs I Wrote With Amy”. Ed’s current single “Thinking Out Loud” was co-written with Amy and it's success (27 weeks in the UK singles chart, number 1 in November & December 2014) has brought her songwriting even greater critical acclaim from a wider audience.
With great vocal range in her emotive songs she has twice won the Best Solo Female Artist title at the Welsh Music Awards, ahead of Charlotte Church in 2002 and Cerys Matthews in 2003. A gutsy performer with a voice that is “tough but tender” she has supported some of the world’s great artists -Van Morrison, Damien Rice, Eric Bibb and Jeff Beck – and has seven album releases to her name. In 2014 she unveiled her first solo release in six years – the EP "Recovery" which will be available on the tour.
"An irresistible, riveting performer"
Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
“Amy is a ray of light one moment, shot through with sorrow the next. Her voice is amazing
and it's suddenly clear why she's getting so much recognition”
“The new Joni Mitchell, with her distinctive voice and well-crafted songs”
London Evening Standard
Luke Jackson is a rising young Roots singer/songwriter from Canterbury, Kent. 2013 saw him nominated for both the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.
With a bold, show stopping voice and honed guitar skills, Luke is a confident and captivating performer demonstrating an astonishing maturity. He has been making waves on the live acoustic scene supporting such luminaries as Show of Hands, Karine Polwart, Oysterband and Martyn Joseph and he has delivered startling performances on the UK festival scene, from Cambridge to Sidmouth and The Great British Folk Festival. In December 2014 Luke is touring with Marillion, playing large venues in the UK, The Netherlands and Germany.
According to Acoustic Magazine, he is “an outstanding heir to the likes of Richard Thompson and Martin Simpson”. With a wealth of finely-observed narrative songs, his most recent album, “Fumes and Faith” emphasises the exceptional maturity and versatility of one of the most exciting young singer songwriters and live performers on the scene!
“A great singer, a great songwriter and a really commanding presence......... I watch everything this young chap does with a considerable amount of interest and an equal measure of amazement.”
“Luke has a voice you could get lost in. He has a musical maturity and a songwriting ability that belies his years. His roots may be firmly within folk music but his exuberant stage performance suggests emerging rock star! “
“Luke has already acquired both an unmistakable voice and a strikingly individual vision, so has a tremendous head start on the competition”
The Live at All Hallows team have been fans of Amy since seeing her performing at Greenbelt 2007, similarly of Luke since his 2010 festival appearance. We're privileged to be able to host a gig on this tour and hope you will join us, both for the gig itself and possibly also beforehand for a meal from The Real Junk Food Project @ All Hallows.
The Real Junk Food Project intercepts food that would otherwise go to waste from supermarkets, restaurants and a number of other sources, and turns it into delicious, nutritious meals for visitors on a pay-as-you-feel donation basis. Between 6pm and 8pm you can enjoy a lovely main meal and/or a scrummy dessert before the gig (doors 745pm); plus with it being a Saturday gig the full Live At All Hallows bar including local craft ale will be relocating into the Cafe, so you can accompany your meal with a drink should you wish. For more information see their website and please do consider liking their facebook page.
Tickets for the gig available here, from the Live At All Hallows team at gigs, and in due course from Jumbo Records.
