A workshop organised by the Educational Voice-Hearing Network in the Collaborating Centre for Values-based Practice in Health and Social Care, St Catherine’s College, Oxford University.

10.00 am – Outline of the day from Dr Roz Austin (University of York)

10.15 am – Dr Joachim Schnackenberg (efc Institut) ‘Experience Focused Counselling for working with voice-hearers’.

13.00 pm – Lunch

14.00 pm – Dr Stella Compton Dickinson (Music Therapist, Healthcare Researcher, Consultant Psychotherapist, London), ‘Finding an authentic voice: music therapy in multi-disciplinary psychiatric treatment’.

14.30 pm – Dr Hasanen Al-Taiar (Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Oxford NHS), ‘Supporting voice-hearers on forensic wards’.

15.00-16.00 pm – Dr Simon Mullins, Dr Joachim Schnackenberg, Dr Stella Compton Dickinson, Dr Hasanen Al-Taiar, and Dr Roz Austin. Working Group: The Educational Voice-hearing Network’. How do we best support voice-hearers to change their relationships with their voices?

Many of the presenters are contributing authors to the forthcoming book, ‘The Practical Handbook of Hearing Voices: a short guide to auditory hallucinations’ (to be published by PCCS Books in 2020). Places are free. Demand for places is expected to be high, so early booking is advised.
