Event description

Description

Enjoy a summer butterfly walk in The Heart of England Forest led by Mike Slater from Butterfly Conservation.

Spend the early afternoon exploring the forest and searching for as many different species of butterflies as you can find. If you're lucky you'll see a Small Copper, Purple Hairstreak, Marbled White and Essex Skipper and hopefully many more.

You’ll also discover everything there is to know about their life cycle, where they live and why they’re so important to the environment. Plus, find out what particular trees and shrubs butterflies enjoy and how the Heart of England Forest is ensuring the butterfly population flourishes (you might have already heard about the award we won in 2015 for our contribution to butterfly conservation!)

Mike truly is a butterfly expert so make sure you come prepared with all the questions you’ve ever wanted to ask about these beautiful insects.

This is a casual walk and talk for all the family, with plenty of stopping to observe and ask questions. Sensible footwear for woodland walking is required – no summer sandals. Dress for the weather and don’t forget your sunblock, bottle of water and your butterfly spotting guide.

All donations made for this event will be split equally between The Heart of England Forest and Butterfly Conservation.

Please meet in the Barton Car park to set off at 1pm.
