An Afternoon with Giulio Tampalini and Daniele Fabio
Overview
Giulio Tampalini has been hailed internationally as one of the most popular and charismatic classical guitarists, and as such he tours regularly and extensively in his country and abroad.
Winner of the Arts and Culture Prize (Milan, Italy 2014), he is a Warner Classics Artist. He has recorded over 25 CDs and has played more than 2000 concerts all over the world. He has won many prizes at major international guitar competitions such as the “Narciso Yepes” Competition in Sanremo (chairman: Narciso Yepes); the International Rome Competition in 1996 and 2000; “De Bonis” International Competition in Cosenza; “Pittaluga” International Competition in Alessandria; “Fernando Sor” International Competiton in Rome and the “Andrés Segovia” International Competiton in Granada. In 2001 he performed at the Christmas concert in the Vatican in honour of the Pope.
Giulio Tampalini is a guitar professor at the Foundation International Academy in Imola and at the “Gaetano Donizetti” Bergamo Conservatory of Music (Italy) and he is regularly invited to give masterclasses all over Europe. In 2017 he has published the CD “The Spanish Guitar” for Warner Music Classics. He is a D’Addario artist and he plays guitars made by the English luthier Philip Woodfield.

Daniele Fabio is an Italian guitarist and composer from Calabria. He studied at the Conservatory of Nocera Terinese and Milan, and he has received many prizes and awards for his artistic achievements, including the Ali Sul Mediterraneo International Award in 2022. In 2017 he released his first solo CD as a guitarist and composer, "Mondi Interni". In 2018 he began a stable collaboration with Giulio Tampalini, performing in festivals throughout Italy and abroad.
In 2019 the duo recorded their critically acclaimed first album, entitled "Duosfera", and Daniele won the first prize at the prestigious international composition competition Egidio Carella, with his piece “Compas” for solo guitar. In 2020 he created the soundtrack of a documentary dedicated to the Camini community and the Jungi Mundu humanitarian cooperative. He later composed "The Edge of The Moon" for the Vietnamese guitarist Thu Le, who included it in her repertoire, performing it on tour all over the world.
Daniele is quickly establishing himself as an important composer for the guitar. His works bring influences from jazz, blues, flamenco and folk music to the world of classical guitar, together with a certain Mediterranean flair from his roots in Calabria.
