Description

Explore highlights from the new 2018-2020 Trinity Piano syllabus.

Presented by experienced examiner and pianist John Human in collaboration with Helen Wills, EPTA Representative for Devon.

Join us for a wonderful afternoon of piano as John Human takes you through some of his personal highlights from Trinity's new 2018-20 Piano syllabus. As well as playing, John will also provide his pedagocial insight into some of the pieces, make links with other aspects of the syllabus and provide invaluable teaching tips and advice on how to get the most out of using the new syllabus in your teaching practice.

Helen Wills, the EPTA Representative for Devon will also take some time to share news on the latest EPTA activities in your region, and Rachel Kilby, Trinity's Regional Adviser for Wales and the South West will talk through the benefits of teaching Trinity's syllabus and how the exams are assessed.

For all teachers there will also be FREE sample packs to take away at the end of the session, with examples of the syllabus and more information on Trinity College London nationally and more locally in Devon.

I hope you can join us!

Rachel Kilby

Presenter bio:

John Human is a pianist with a passion for exploring the instrument as widely as possible. He plays classical repertoire, but also improvises in idiomatic genres, jazz, rock, pop and world musics. As a teacher John always seeks to embed technical command, in order to enable students to master the repertoire of their choice. His focus is always on how to play rather than what to play, and years of experience have taught him that learning is always enhanced if students are really engaged with the music they are playing.

John has examined for almost 20 years across the globe, initially for Guildhall, then with Trinity on the Classical and Rock & Pop panel and has worked on syllabus development and other elements of the examination process. He is also Chairman of the Croydon Performing Arts Festival. He lives in London with his partner, the cellist Una Birtchnell, and their 3 children.
