Event description

Description

Buddhists make up approximately 10% of the world's population. Yet, there is a considerable amount of confusion when it comes to what Buddhists do when Buddhists die. In this short talk, we will encounter both canonical source material and contemporary ethnographic studies to explore and consider the way in which Buddhists and Buddhism interact with death dying and disposal.

Speaker biography: Matt Coward-Gibbs is a PhD Student in the Department of Sociology at the University of York and a part-time Lecturer in Religious Studies at York St John University.
