Join us for an evening about adders and humans.

Kevin Palmer, Lecturer in Conservation Biology and PhD Researcher at the University of Chester, will share his PhD research proposal into how human recreational activity in the landscape might affect and influence our most enigmatic UK reptile.

Come and find out all about adders and how you can contribute to his research that begins on the Quantocks next spring, as the adders emerge from their hibernation.

Alongside Kevin, reptile expert and Quantock adder survey advisor John Dickson will share his thoughts on this year’s data. If you volunteered your time to survey this summer, come and find out what the data analysis has shown about the health of the adder population on the hills.

This is also an opportunity to put yourself forward to get involved in surveying in 2026.

The event is free and open to all, but places are limited. Please help us plan by reserving your free ticket.

This event and the annual Quantock Adder Survey are hosted by Friends of the Quantocks, a local conservation charity dedicated to championing the special habitats, wildlife and diverse landscapes of the Quantocks Hills, for all to enjoy.
