Description

An evening at the English National Opera - bookings close Thurs 22 Feb
Friday 9 March

This year, we invite you to join us for Gilbert & Sullivan’s Iolanthe, directed by Cal McCrystal, who created the National Theatre’s award-winning One Man, Two Guv’nors. Iolanthe is a brilliantly funny, satirical fantasy with fairies causing mayhem in the House of Lords. With Sullivan’s ever-melodious score, Gilbert’s sharp wit perfectly pairs with the irreverence and chaotic physical comedy that are the hallmarks of Cal McCrystal’s work.

We are delighted that Cressida Pollock, CEO of the English National Opera, will join our pre-performance reception as one of our guest speakers, introduced by our host, ENO Board Member Huw van Steenis (MBA 95J), followed by the performance. We are delighted to announce that Cal McCrystal, Director will also be joining us as guest speaker. He is an award-winning comedy director, writer and performer who created the National Theatre’s One Man, Two Guv’nors. Specialising in comedy and clowning, he was Comedy Director for Cirque du Soleil and comedy consultant on the films The Amazing Spider Man 2, The World’s End and Paddington.

Cressida Pollock (MBA Sloan) is CEO of one of the UK's top 10 performing arts organisations and one of the few women leaders in any of the national arts companies. In the last 12 months, the ENO chorus and orchestra have won an Olivier Award and Chorus of the Year at the International Opera Awards and staged world premieres of The Winter’s Tale and Marnie. From commissioning new works to reviving old favourites and classic operetta, Cressida works closely with Artistic Director, Daniel Kramer, and Music Director, Martyn Brabbins, to deliver a nationally renowned programme of unforgettable opera productions.

This will be another great opportunity to catch up with friends from INSEAD and enjoy an evening at the ENO. There are four different ticket prices, which include the pre-opera reception and interval refreshments.

We encourage you to register for this very special evening as soon as possible as numbers are limited.
