Event description

Description

Guy Turner, with accompaniment by Ed Turner (no relation) present an evening of Comic Songs, including several of Guy’s own, and a selection by the inimitable Flanders and Swann.

To give Ed the odd rest here and there, there will also be some readings from humorous writers such as Jerome K Jerome, Terry Pratchett and Bill Bryson.

Take a glass of wine, pull up a chair in the beautiful HopBarn and be ready to meet Gasmen, Armadillos, Pigeons, Floods, Pizzas, Horns, Hangovers, Trains and Pillar Boxes!

Guy Turner is a Lay Clerk at Southwell Minster, and does all sort of other freelance work, including occasionally being allowed out into the community to sing comic songs.

Ed Turner is Assistant Director of Music at Derby Cathedral., and Guy's frequent partner in song. They are respectively conductor and accompanist of Bingham and District Choral Society.

The proceeds of this event will go to Awards for Young Musicians -

AYM helps exceptional young people who need financial and other forms of support to progress their musical talent and to develop their skills to their full potential.

They also help music educators to spot, support and nurture musical talent in young people.

Through our strategic leadership, we’re also guiding the development of innovative thinking and greater collaboration across the music education sector, while taking the lead in helping young people experience excellent music journeys.

That’s their main business: finding potential in young musicians and giving talent a chance.
