Event description

Description

Join our Environmental and Social Responsibility team on Thursday 4 April 2019 at 5:45pm for an evening of discovery and dialogue, showcasing emerging topics within the Environmental and Social Responsibility (E&S) space.

We are delighted to welcome Uzma Chowdhury, Corporate Finance Director of PRAN-RFL Group, who will share her first-hand experience of moving towards international E&S standards in a challenging environment. There will be also an opportunity to explore a marketplace hosted by CDC experts across the themes of gender, job quality, climate, venture capital and solid waste; and to hear about the latest updates to our Toolkit for Fund Managers.

Drinks and light snacks will be served.

Please note that although places at the event are limited and priority will be given to those working in E&S, we welcome those working outside the sector to get in touch. Places will be confirmed in advance of the event.

About RFL Electronics and PRAN-RFL
In 2017, CDC committed a $15 million investment in RFL Electronics Limited (REL), a producer of consumer electronics and white goods for Bangladeshi consumers with intentions to export overseas. The business is part of the larger PRAN-RFL group – a successful conglomerate in Bangladesh, which has circa US $2 billion in turnover and directly employs 100,000 people.

About our Toolkit
As a responsible investor, we aim to apply the same high standards of environmental, social, governance (ESG) and business integrity across all of our underlying portfolio companies and investments. With a long history as a fund-of-funds investor, we are well placed to share experience and good practice.

Since 2006, we have provided a free-to-use toolkit aimed at private equity fund managers in emerging markets. The Toolkit aims to be both a practical building block for the development of a customised ESG management system, and an easy-to-use reference guide for assessing and managing ESG risks, impacts and opportunities.
