🎵 An evening of Greek Music, Poetry, and Tech Talk with the SOAS Rebetiko Band – North London 🎵

Join us for an unforgettable evening of Greek Music, Poetry, and Tech Talk at The Bohemia, North London. Get ready to be entertained by talented artists, inspired by thought-provoking poets, and enlightened by tech experts. You are welcome to bring your ideas and engage with like-minded individuals. Whether you're a music enthusiast, poetry lover, or tech geek, this event has something for you. We will continue this monthly session on the last Tuesday of every month throughout the year 2025, except December: 30 Sep, 7 Oct, 25 Nov, 9 Dec 2025.

The evening commences with a musical journey Peyman Heydarian [Santur], Andy Theodorou [Bouzouki], George Andreou Charalambous [Guitar]. As part of the evening there will be a short talk by ethnomusicologist, Ed Emery [SOAS, London] regarding prison songs of the Mediterranean, and of Greece in particular, as represented in the songs of Rebetiko. Members of The SOAS Rebetiko Band will play some of those songs.

After a 20-minute intermission to mingle and refresh, Prof. Ali Hessami of IEEE recites a poem by Khayyam and shares his valuable insights on Wisdom, Ethics, and AI.

The event concludes with shared songs and musical highlights.
