About this event

The Thames Valley Festival Orchestra returns to Dorchester Abbey on September 20, 2025 to perform ‘An Evening of Symphonic Prog Rock’. The 65 piece symphony orchestra with rhythm section will fill the Abbey with the sound of the music of the most iconic British prog rock bands of the 70s and 80s. The concert will feature symphonic arrangements by the legendary Dee Palmer of the music of Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and Queen. Perennial favourites such as ‘Follow You, Follow Me’ (Genesis), ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’ and ‘Roundabout’ (Yes), ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ and ‘Wish You were Here’ (Pink Floyd), ‘Elegy’ and ‘Aqualung’ (Jethro Tull), ‘Tie Your Mother Down’, ‘Somebody to Love’ and ‘We are the Champions’ (Queen) will feature and many more.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds can be offered if the event sells out and your ticket is resold. A £3 admin fee per ticket will apply.

Does the veue have disabled/wheelchair access?

Yes, Dorchester Abbey has full disable access: a ramp into the Abbey /Cloister Gallery and a disabled toilet is available. Please email us to make us aware of any needs so we can assist. thamesvalleyfestivalorchestra@gmail.com

Where do I park for free for the concert?

Please follow the signs to dedicated Abbey event parking areas. These are normally at the Recreation ground at the Oxford end of the village and/or Abbey View to the south. Abbey View is the parking area most likely to be in operation, which is a 5-10 minute walk to the Abbey from the parking area.

Is there disabled parking?

There are a couple of spaces for blue badge holders at the Abbey which must be pre-booked at least 48 hours before the date of the concert. Please email thamesvalleyfestivalorchestra@gmail.com to request a space.
