About this event

Following the success of our recent evening talk (£10 per person, which included complimentary entry to the National Wallace Monument), we are delighted to be repeating the talk due to popular demand. Please note that this repeat event is for the talk only and does not include monument entry.

Join author and cinema historian Dr Thomas A. Christie for an exploration of Braveheart - the Oscar-winning epic that brought the story of William Wallace to global audiences and left a lasting impression on the cultural landscape of Scotland.

Marking the film's 30th anniversary, this discussion considers the production and legacy of the acclaimed 1995 blockbuster, with behind-the-scenes insights and fascinating anecdotes from its creation.

Discover how Braveheart not only shaped modern perceptions of Scottish history but also played a significant role in reinvigorating the identity and international profile of Stirling, the historic city at the heart of Wallace's rebellion. From cinematic mythmaking to real-world tourism, and from local impact to national pride, Dr Christie traces the threads that link Hollywood spectacle with Scotland's story.

Doors open from 6:30pm - Tea/coffee included in ticket donation price.

The talk will also be followed by a short Q&A.

Please note: This ticket is for the evening talk held at Legends Coffee House only, and does not include entry to the National Wallace Monument.
