Adam LeBor writes novels and magazine articles and opinions. He writes headline pieces for the world’s most read newspapers, and thrillers and investigative histories. He is an author, journalist, foreign correspondent and writing coach. In 1991, Adam decided to move to Budapest to cover the aftermath of the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe and the wars in Croatia and Bosnia. His ground-breaking non-fiction work, Hitler’s Secret Bankers, exposed the scandal of Swiss collaboration with the Nazis, and Complicity with Evil was an exposé of the UN’s failure to stop genocide. In City of Oranges, a beautifully told history of the Arab and Jewish families who arrived in Jaffa in 1948, the stories of these first arrivals, illustrate evocatively the complexities of the new state and Israel today.

He is the author of six novels including a thriller trilogy - The Geneva Option, Washington Stratagem, The Reykjavik Assignment - featuring Yael Azoulay, covert negotiator for the United Nations. He is currently writing a noir crime series set in present-day Budapest featuring Balthazar Kovacs, a Gypsy detective in the Budapest murder squad. Adam describes the books as “not classic police procedurals, but a hybrid of crime and conspiracy thrillers”.
