We're absolutely delighted to be welcoming Alan Hollinghurst back to Watererstones Brighton, this time for the paperback release of his 7th novel, the astonishing 'Our Evenings'.
2004 Booker winner Alan Hollinghurst is coming to Waterstones Brighton to discuss his latest novel, 'Our Evenings' - the poignant, funny, powerful and expansive 7th novel from the writer described by many as one of the greats of our age.
'Our Evenings' is an account of the life of protagonist Dave Win, as a schoolboy and student, his first love affairs, in London, and on the road with an experimental theatre company, and of a late-life affair, which transforms his sixties with a new sense of happiness and a perilous security; but it is also, very movingly, the story of his hard-working widowed mother, whose own life takes an unexpected new turn after her son leaves home.
It is also a story of race, class, sexuality, love and violence, from a master novelist still at the very peak of his talents.
We are so very lucky to have him coming back to Brighton and hope that many of you will be joining us for what will be a very special evening.
Please note: book & ticket price includes a paperback copy of 'Our Evenings' (rrp £9.99) available for collection on the night.
