About this event

We are honoured to welcome Bernard Cornwell to St James's Church in London to celebrate release of Sharpe's Storm. Bernard Cornwell has created some of our favourite heroes and illuminated some of the greatest moments of history. Bernard will take you behind the scenes to share a glimpse of how his stories get to the page; the inspiration behind best-known hero – Richard Sharpe; and his life when he puts down his pen.

Sharpe’s Storm sees Britain prepare to invade France, whilst Richard Sharpe braces himself to face his most brutal opponent yet in this riveting addition to Cornwell's bestselling series set during the Napoleonic Wars.

Bernard Cornwell was born in London, raised in Essex and worked for the BBC for eleven years before meeting Judy, his American wife. Denied an American work permit, he decided to earn a living by writing, a job that did not need a permit from the US government – and so the Sharpe series was born. Bernard and Judy live together on Cape Cod and Charleston.

Stig Abell will host this special celebration of Bernard Cornwell and Sharpe. Stig presents the breakfast show on Times Radio, and is the author of the Jake Jackson novels, the most recent being The Burial Place.

Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of Sharpe's Storm (RRP. £22) available for collection on the night.
