Science Summer School 2015 takes place at St Paul’s Way Trust School,

Tower Hamlets on 25 & 26 August 2015

Professor Cox is a renowned physicist, presenter of BBC’s Wonders of the Solar System series and Royal Society Professor of Public Engagement in Science. Brian will provide insights into his work at the Large Hadron Collider and discuss fascinating recent scientific discoveries in space. Brian will also address the critical need for people to be engaged with science and how the UK can be the best place for science and engineering in the world.

Please note that this is a standing only event (think Top Gear).

The inspirational Science Summer School, hosted by Professor Brian Cox, celebrates its fourth year at St Paul’s Way Trust School, Tower Hamlets on 25 and 26 August 2015.

Run by the St Paul’s Way Trust School it is a unique and innovative programme of seminars (in the well-known ‘TED Talk’ format), discussions, hands-on experiments and networking opportunities designed to inspire and encourage the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Science Summer School delivers this exciting programme to children from over 30 schools in Tower Hamlets and the surrounding boroughs, alongside some of Britain’s most successful scientists. We plan to extend the Science Summer School across the UK in future years. The Science Summer School aims to:

• Engage and interest students in cutting edge real world science

• Encourage a genuine understanding of what real research means in practice

• Increase the up-take of science A levels, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) degrees and careers

For the first time, the School will finish at Here East, the former Broadcast Centre during the 2012 Games, and new home to businesses, entrepreneurs, artists and makers. World-class academics from University College London (UCL) and Loughborough University will also take part in the two-day Science Summer School.

The event is being organised by Andrew Mawson Partnerships and Voyage Control, and proudly supported by London Legacy Development Corporation and XL Catlin.
