Join us to hear writer and design change maker John Thackara, talk about his latest book 'How to thrive in the next economy'.
Described by Business Week as ‘one of the great voices in sustainability’, John Thackara is a writer and event producer who has spent a lifetime searching for examples of what a sustainable future can be like.
In his clear-eyed but ultimately optimistic book, John argues that, in our eagerness to find big technological solutions to global challenges, we have all too often ignored the astonishing creativity generated when people work together and in harmony with the world around them.
In the spirit of platform cooperativism, John invited two special guests to join him on the panel: Tessy Britton, Co-founder of Civic Systems Lab and Participatory City; they just published their research report Designed to Scale. And Blaine Cook, a Canadian software engineer, now living and working in London, who was formerly lead developer of Twitter; he is now a founder of collaborative text editing startup Poetica.
The panel will discuss three questions about cooperation platforms and mobility:
Q1: Time, or calories?
Q2: Bright light – or dark star?
Q3: What kind of ecosystem?
Find out more about the discussion questions on John’s blog.
