An Evening with Kevin Sinfield CBE.

For our 10th Birthday in 2016 we brought back one of our favourite speakers from our first ten years - Kevin Keegan, and what an amazing night that was!

2026 is our 20th birthday, and it isn't hard to think of our favourite from our second decade, namely the inspirational Kevin Sinfield.

So, on Thursday 30th April 2026, the Sporting & Dining Club is thrilled to be able to once again bring you an event, and give you the opportunity of spending time with a very special person, supported by our Principle Sponsor, Standard Bank Offshore and our Key Supporter, Whittles Law.

Kevin Sinfield, is one of the most successful players in rugby league history. Having won many championships and Challenge Cup successes as part of great teams he also earned individual accolades as winner of the Lance Todd Trophy the Harry Sunderland Trophy and he is one of only five British players to ever win the coveted Golden Boot as well as receiving an MBE: 2014 (services to rugby league football) OBE: 2021 (services to rugby league football and charitable fundraising) CBE: 2024 (services to motor neurone disease awareness).

It’s not just the amazing feats that make Kevin what he is, it’s the understated way in which he does them, the amazing mindset and humbleness in which he carries them out. He has a reason and that’s what keeps him going and on 21 November in Halifax have the pleasure of hearing all about it.Kevin is a major fundraiser for charities associated with Motor Neurone Disease. He started by running seven marathons in seven days, and since then he has continued to push himself and others through more physical challenges to raise much-needed funds and awareness for this cruel and debilitating disease.

To date Kevin and his team have raised millions of pounds from the following. Challenges such as 7 Marathons in 7 days in 2020, 101 miles in 24 hours in 2021, 7 Marathons in 7 days 2022 and 7 Marathons in 7 days plus THE EXTRA MILE 2023

Of course, we cannot give you any story of Kevin without mentioning friendships and one friendship in particular with Rob Burrow. Kev and Rob have been friends since they were 14 and 12 respectively. They went on and sat next to each other every day in the dressing room throughout 15 years of rugby and were at the very heart of one of rugby league’s greatest teams at the Leeds Rhinos. Their friendship and camaraderie extended beyond the field, and their bond grew stronger over the years. From shared victories to facing life’s challenges, Sinfield and Burrow exemplify the enduring power of friendship and at these events we will hear about this special friendship too.

PETE EMMETT

Our compere - and funny man of Rugby League - is our resident compere having performed the honours for us on almost 40 events! We have worked with Pete for well over 15 years, so Pete is our go-to man!

A native of Halifax, Pete always brings some light hearted humour to our events, and it has been great to see the career path he has forged for himself.
