Event description

Description

Everyone knows Charles Dickens’s novels, but did you know he was also a keen actor, mesmerist and conjuror? Author Lucinda Hawksley – who is also Dickens’ great great great granddaughter – will talk about the man behind the novels: the journalist, social campaigner, dog lover, travel writer, and a man who was so influential in his own time, that when he died the whole country went into mourning. She will also look at the changes he helped bring about in society, which still has resonance today. Books provided by local Independent shop, Newham Bookshop available to buy on the night. Pay Bar provided by the award winning Wanstead Tap.

This event has been programmed as part of the Fabula Festival in celebration of Libraries Week. Visit www.visionrcl.org.uk/fabula for details of the whole festival.

Refunds will only be issued if we cancel the event. We regret refunds can't be made for any other reason.
