Come join us at Prichard and Ure for a special evening of conversation with author, Sofka Zinovieff, and Brand and Retail Expert, Broadcaster and author Mary Portas.

We are delighted to be hosting this intimate evening in our unique space on the mezzanine level of forty year old social enterprise, Camden Garden Centre. Settle in with a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink for what promises to be a most entertaining evening as Sofka and Mary talk about Sofka's latest novel, STEALING DAD, and Mary's forthcoming memoir I Shop, Therefore I Am - A GUARDIAN ‘BEST BOOK TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2025’

Copies of Stealing Dad will be available and you will be able to pre-order I Shop, Therefore I Am. Following the conversation, the bar will be open and we will be setting out a little complimentary sample of Pritchard & Ure food. Take the opportunity to have your books signed, chat and browse the space and its offerings.

Sofka Zinovieff was born in London, has Russian ancestry and has lived in Greece for many years. She is the acclaimed author of three works of non-fiction: Eurydice Street, Red Princess, and The Mad Boy, Lord Berners, My Grandmother and Me (a New York Times Editors' Choice 2015). She has written two novels, The House on Paradise Street and her last book, Putney - an explosive and thought-provoking novel about the far-reaching repercussions of an illicit relationship between a young girl and a much older man. It was a Best Book of The Year in the Observer, The Spectator and The New Statesman. Her latest book, Stealing Dad, is a tragicomic novel about a dispersed and dysfunctional family, it is “Funny, sad and beautifully written” (The Telegraph)

Mary Portas is a businesswoman, broadcaster, author and activist. I Shop, Therefore I Am is a no-holds-barred account about her time as the window dresser and creative director for Harvey Nichols that is full of juicy anecdotes from the fashion world and ’90s nostalgia. Told with her trademark wit, grit and candour, readers will see first-hand how, armed only with the blank canvas of a shop window and her own creativity, Mary created an era-defining global brand destination. Publication date: October 2025
