Join us for this unique, adult only, after hours event in the historic Museum and Library of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
See behind the scenes and follow in the footsteps of some of history’s most famous Surgeons and visit our world-famous library. Here you will have the chance to view collections from one of the oldest and most comprehensive collection of medical documentation.
Wander into our historic pathology galleries where past surgeons expanded their knowledge and undertook College exams.
Ever wondered if you could operate a surgical robot with precision and skill? Or whether you’d have the stomach for the daring, sometimes grisly techniques of the Barber Surgeon? Throughout the evening, our specialists will bring these historic and high-tech experiences to life, guiding you through hands-on activities that put you right in the action. You’ll also get to enjoy a lineup of thrilling bite-sized talks and embark on a captivating mini walking tour led by our acclaimed 5-star Blood and Guts guides, who will reveal the fascinating, sometimes shocking stories behind the history of surgery.
We will be joined by pathologists who will be chatting about their work, as well as members of Edinburgh University Dental Institute who will be discussing dental tools in modern use in comparison to our historical collection.
There will be a cash bar and an area to relax during your visit but please be aware that we do not have cloak room facilities to leave bags and Jackets.
