Description

THE SHAKESPEARE CLUB OF STRATFORD-UPON-AVON: An Alternative History of the Town

Founded at a meeting in the Falcon Hotel in 1824, it is the oldest Shakespeare club in existence and played an instrumental role in safeguarding Stratford's Shakespeare heritage – a fact celebrated in its recently published history which draws on the Club's archives kept at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. Distinguished past members have included the Mayor of Washington DC, Marie Corelli and the Prince of Siam. This illustrated talk will be presented by the co-authors and Shakespeare Club committee members, Susan Brock and Sylvia Morris. A photographic display will document the activities of the Club over two centuries. www.strafordshakespeareclub.org.uk

Refreshments will be served at 7pm - the tcket price includes a glass of wine and nibbles, after which the talk will take place at 7.30pm

Copies of the book are available in The Old Slaughterhouse shop
