Amina Moghe Hersi is a multi-millionaire Somali entrepreneur, and is considered to be one of the wealthiest women in Uganda, and was recently named as ‘African Business Women of the Year’ by the New Economy, for helping turning around several multi-million dollar projects that have dramatically changed the face of Kampala.
Amina Hersi has come a long way from living in a rural community in Kenya, to now building a real estates empire in Uganda, she is the owner of Oasis Mall that is popularly known as Nakumatt, and Kingstone Enterprises Limited, one of the city’s largest distributors of cement and other hardware materials. Through her multi-million dollar Investments, Amina Moghe has provided employment directly and indirectly to over 6,000 people mostly women.
Just after Aminia Hersi, the event will be followed by an another inspirational conversation with Dr Deqo Mohamed, the daughter of the famous Dr Hawa Abdi found of Hawa Abdi Foundation.
Dr Deqo Mohamed is a Somali born doctor, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Dr Hawa Abdi Foundation (DHAF). Dr Deqo from a young age has shown the courage and strength, in assisting the humanitarian support for internally displaced refugees. In 2000 she gained gaining MD in Moscow in 2000, and has worked for MSF (Doctors Without Borders) from 2008 to 2010 in Somalia during the measles. Deqo now leads all operation in the Hawa Abdi Village in lower Shabelle, managing the general hospital, the waqad Diblawe primary school, women’s educational centre and a smart farming agriculture project. In 2010 Dr Deqo was awarded the Glamour Women of the year and Black Girls Rock at BET.
