An Intimate Evening with Matmos
Tuesday 23 June - doors 8pm
FREE - booking essential - very limited space
As part of their residency at Metal in Southend Matmos will be playing a one-off gig in the small but perfectly formed front rooms at Metal's HQ, Chalkwell Hall.
Followed by a Q&A, it's a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see the boys perform up close and personal.
MATMOS are currently staying at Metal as part of our international residency exchange programme. They are M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel, now based in Baltimore but also associated with the San Francisco music scene of the 1990’s.
Matmos playfully conjure electronic pop that circumnavigates music concrete, found sounds and the far fringes of experimental music. Their live shows are notorious in combining sound, video and live antics; often with an expanded ensemble of musical friends. As well as releasing over eight albums they have collaborated with Terry Riley, Kronos Quartet, Bjork and Marina Abramovic.
Their most recent album The Marriage of True Minds, was released in 2013 by Thrill Jockey Records. You can see their full catalogue of work here.
During their international residency, Matmos will develop new ideas for NetPark, Metal’s Digital Project in Chalkwell Park, Southend-on-Sea.
