An intimate evening with Muslim Shaggan | Notting Hill
Overview
Muslim Shaggan is the Grandon of Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan for whom the word 'Legend' is very small. His family dynasty represent the Gwalior Gharana of Classical Music which dates back 500 years. Muslim has been immersed in this Gharana, with his formal training into 'Khayaal' singing with his Grandfather beginning at the age of 7.
Muslim's lineage has two references. The Gwalior Gharana as mentioned and the Rubabi tradition. Khayaal singing is his forte, while his repertiore also includes Thumri, Ghazal, Sufi Kalaam, Kaafi and Playback singing.
Over the last few years Muslim has established himself as a rising star of his Gharana and Classical Khayaal singing in general. His recognition now truly extends beyond Pakistan. He's performed in Switzerland, been invited to a prestigous musical residency at Cove Park, Scotland in early 2025. During that trip Muslim was honoured at The Houses of Parliament at an event celebrating both his Gwalior and Rubabi traditions.
This will be a very intimate evening with Muslim Shaggan with only 50 seats available. Half will be 'baithak' style on rugs, and half will be seated. Joining Muslim will be our very own Aman Pal on Tabla and Avtar Singh on the Taus.
The evening will comprise of Light Classsical, Thumri and Ghazal.
Doors open at 7pm and the performance will commence by 7.30pm. There will be an interval and seating is unreserved.
