An Intimate Tour of Breasts with Claire Collison

Artist, writer and breast cancer survivor, Claire Collison is your tour guide on this leisurely three-hour walk exploring multicultural mythologies surrounding breasts and looking at their commodification throughout history to the present day - from religious martyrs to political activists, fine art to Page 3, nipple slip to slippery nipple. Engaging in conversations and activities along the way, you will be unravelling the implications of all this on how women feel about their own breasts.
Claire Collison's practice is rooted in place and identity - the writer and artist as witness, flaneur and psycho-geographer: "There are landscapes we walk through, and those we carry within: I am interested in charting where these places converge." The Peterborough Intimate Tour of Breasts is part of an ongoing series.
Additional Information
This leisurely and fully accessible 3-hour walk begins at Metal Chauffeurs Cottage, St Peter’s Road and is open to all. There will be comfort breaks, and opportunities to pause along the route.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and come prepared for all weather.

The tour will end at Peterborough’s heated Lido, on their last day of the season, where Tour participants are invited to join Claire for a swim at a discounted price of £2.00. You can leave your swim kit at Chauffeurs Cottage during the walk and a member of staff will bring these to the lido at the end of the tour.
A special breast-themed tea will also be provided.
Claire will also be delivering her single-breasted life modelling monologue, Truth Is Beauty on Saturday 5th October 2019, 1pm. Booking essential. Drawings from the performance will be on display at Metal from Sunday 6th October - Wednesday 9th October 2019, 10am – 4pm.
