An Introduction to Academic Podcasting
Date and time
A practical introduction to academic podcasting, aimed at beginners who are interested in using podcasting to communicate their research.
About this event
This workshop is a practical introduction to academic podcasting, aimed at beginners who are interested in using podcasting to communicate their research or to build a research community. It will briefly touch on equipment, budgeting, interviewing, scripting, editing, thinking about audiences and general principles of research communication, how to release a podcast, and how to get people listening. By the end of the workshop, you should have the basic knowledge and skills you need to get started.
To take part, you will need:
- A laptop
- The free editing software Audacity (the most recent version) installed on your laptop
- Headphones / earphones / earbuds
- A way to record your voice. You can record straight into Audacity, but you might like to bring a digital recorder if you have one, or download a good quality voice recording app to your phone (for Android users I recommend Rec Forge II, for iPhone users I recommend Voice Record Pro 7 or Auphonic Recorder – both are free)
Please feel free to contact the facilitator Dr Sadie Ryan (sadie.ryan@glasgow.ac.uk) before the workshop if there is anything you would like her to know about you, or if you have any questions about the workshop.
This is a full-day in-person event and lunch will be provided. Reasonable costs of travel to and from the event will be reimbursed. Enquiries can be directed to critstudies-opsadmin@glasgow.ac.uk.
