An introduction to ADHD

By Neuropeace

Overview

A 2 hour informal session to cover some of the key aspects of life with ADHD. Open to anyone, ADHD or not, to understand and navigate it.

Event Overview

In this introduction to ADHD, we will spend approximately one hour covering several useful topics that people with ADHD would benefit from understanding better.

The session is open to anyone — whether they have been diagnosed with ADHD or not — including those with combined ADHD/Autism, as well as relatives, partners, parents, or employers seeking more knowledge on the subject.

There is a lot of ADHD content online at the moment, and this can be overstimulating and overwhelming for those of us who disappear down rabbit holes with too much information. These sessions have been deliberately created to bring people together in the real world to connect, listen, or chat with others who may understand.

This is an ADHD/Autism-friendly session: no awkward introductions, no on-the-spot questions, and no forced group activities. I’ll be the awkward one speaking — and we can mingle at the end if you feel comfortable.

Let's take you into 2025 with a fresh drive to tackle things.

The session is priced at £10 to cover costs. ADHDers can have a habit of signing up for events when motivation is high and then reality sets in! The price fairly reflects the planning time, but this is mainly about community and support. If you sign up, I’ll help you attend as best I can beforehand.

Session flow

  • What exactly is ADHD?
  • How it affects the brain
  • Why the seemingly sudden influx of diagnoses?
  • How ADHD can affect your life — at home, at work, in relationships, academically, and health-wise
  • Using your ADHD strengths

The session will be two hours long, with time afterwards to ask questions, chat, and connect. Tea, coffee (regular and decaf), and juice will be available in a welcoming, relaxed space.

Take-away materials

  • A handout referencing technical discussions, including routes to diagnosis
  • A list of future session dates, such as:
  • ADHD and Menopause
  • ADHD and Managing Relationships
  • ADHD and Collecting Later-Life Trauma
  • ADHD and Running a Successful Business
  • ADHD and Depression
  • ADHD and Autism combined
  • ADHD and being a parent, co-parent
  • ADHD Seperating you from your ADHD diagnosis
  • ADHD and money
  • ADHD and Self-Sabotage / Imposter Syndrome
  • ADHD and Addictions
  • ADHD and Creativity

You should leave this session feeling more informed about ADHD itself — how it can affect the brain and how that translates into actions in your life. One ADHD brain is not the same as 100; we all have different lives and experiences, but some things are common. Navigating them better can help you avoid future trauma, be more productive, and achieve your personal goals.

And honestly, the worst-case scenario is that you leave with some good biscuits and nice chats — which is never a bad thing. 🍪

I look forward to seeing you there!

Private counselling and therapy is not always affordable to some people and free mainstream therapy most often is lacking in real depth and knowledge when it comes to neurodiversity.

Sessions are run by someone with ADHD/Autism with many years lived experience and first-hand knowledge of the issues discussed. Trained to signpost effectively.

Neuropeace exists to provide peer-support and psychoeducational ADHD sessions. Structured, accessable and designed to increase understanding and self-awareness in adults.

Working alongside therapists, counsellors and local practitioners to ensure people can access the right support if they need it.
