Just as we can explore the depths of the unconscious through Dreams, we can also explore the projected unconscious in artistic creation. Art provides us with a container to view and explore both personal and archetypal symbolism.

Join us for a fascinating afternoon of workshops and conversation exploring psychoanalysis, art therapy and the unconscious creative mind, with a focus on Jungian theories and the artwork of Gerard Torbitt. Which will take place within an exciting international exhibition of work by artists who explore darker themes in their work.

Throughout the day you will experience an in depth and interactive conversation between an Artist and Psychodynamic Therapist and a tour of the gallery with a carefully guided opportunity to apply some of your learning and think about some of the symbolism within the exhibition. We will end the day with a reflective and practical mindfulness session.

About the course leaders:

Through the Jung Centre, Gerard Torbitt (Artist) and Laura Patterson (Lecturer and Psychodynamic Therapist) lead a six week course which examines Gerard’s work alongside other artists and demonstrates the inextricable link between art and the unconscious mind. This introductory session serves as a taster of some of their work and research.

You can see Gerard's work here on instagram: @gerard_torbitt
