About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Traditional approaches to working in communities have often tended to be 'top-down' interventions by outside agencies trying to fix problems. Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) is a way of working with people and communities that starts with what is STRONG not what is WRONG. When it comes to making change, It is not about "doing to" but understanding that there are many things that communities are best placed to do themselves. In this face-to-face interactive workshop we will explore all aspects of ABCD and how it is being embedded in the city of Leeds.

We will focus on:

· ABCD principles and practices.

· Leeds City Council's ABCD Pathfinder project and our council commitment to shifting to asset-based ways of working.

· Case studies and learning from LS14 as experienced practitioners of ABCD

The workshop will also provide space for you to reflect on your work and consider how ABCD may shape your approach to working in communities.

This training is funded through Leeds City Council ABCD Programme and will be led the team at LS14 Trust, a place-based community organisation in Seacroft, East Leeds. LS14 Trust have adopted an ABCD approach to working alongside communities and embedded this throughout their organisation and practice.

This training is open to all community and third sector organisations from Leeds.

If you are a member of Leeds City Council staff looking for ABCD training, please register for the internal LCC staff training offer on PALs.

There are a few places for those outside of the city but please
