An Introduction to Assistive Technologies
Wed 22 March 2017, 09:15 – 11:45 GMT
Scope offers a 2 ½ hour introduction to assistive technology workshop which shows how a range of day to day things like computers, mobile phones, tablets (iPads etc.) and other things can be made to work for families of disabled children.
Sessions are delivered in small groups as a hands on experience and they are aimed at people little or no tech knowledge. It’s an opportunity to find out more about the possibilities that technology offers, have a play with it and ask questions too.
Topics covered include:
What assistive technology can do and who its for
iPad vs Android tablets
Accessibility built in to Microsoft Windows
Controlling a computer with only your eyes
Alternative keyboards and mice
Accessing a computer if you have sight loss
We welcome parent carers of disabled children and also professionals who work with families to book on to this free event. Spaces are limited. For further information, please contact Halton Face 2 Face Coordinator Tina on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 0776 734 6724.
