Description
Colin Papworth will be leading our introduction to biomechanics study day.
Colin qualified from the Durham School of Podiatry in 1999. He held the muscoskeletal lead post for Kensington and Chelsea PCT until 2003, when he relocated to Derbyshire.
He is a partner in his own practice at Holywell Healthcare, Chesterfield. He also works at the Accelerate Performance Centre in Sheffield. He has worked in Ministry of Defence Rehabilitation Units and the High Performance Centre at Loughborough. He also provides podiatric input to the GB boxing and Para-table tennis teams.
Colin has significant experience on lecturing in biomechanics and also runs Running Technique workshops at Accelerate Performance Centre, Sheffield.
Aims
To gain an understanding of the how to assess foot biomechanics, diagnose movement dysfunction and apply treatment options.
Learning Outcomes
To gain an understanding of functional foot anatomy
Learn non-weight bearing assessment techniques
Understand how and assess how the foot responds to loading
Look at the impact normal/abnormal foot loading has on gait and how to conduct a basic gait analysis and how abnormal function can be leading to certain conditions and injury
How to implement different treatments – including orthoses, exercises, manual therapy
This is a very practical day with lots of time to assess feet and put into practice what you are learning. Please wear loose fitting clothes or bring shorts.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and a light buffet lunch will be provided. Please let Anna know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.
