An Introduction to Charcoal Making
Sat 27 May 2017, 09:30 – 17:00 BST
This is a ‘hands on’ practical course run by a professional woodsman in the heart of rural Shropshire. Although usually a process taking several days, participants will be given an insight into all the stages involved in making charcoal, from wood types and site selection to grading and bagging.
Please bring a dusk mask and overalls/old clothes as you may get sooty!
Also, please be at the meeting point between 9.10 to 9:30 (Little Wenlock Village Hall, Malthouse Bank, Telford TF6 5BN). From here, we will drive a short distance down the road and into the wood in a 4x4 to Harris’s Coppice, Buildwas Lane, Telford
IF YOU ARRIVE AT THE VILLAGE HALL AFTER 9:30, PLEASE RING MATT ON 07507 422522 WHO CAN DIRECT YOU TO THE SITE.
Tea and coffee will be provided and a lunch will be cooked on the charcoal kiln during the day! This will be a bbq, including plenty of meat and vegetarian options. If you have any other dietary requirements (eg. gluten free, vegan, allergies) then please contact Matt in advance of the day. If you would like to bring anything, then biscuits and cakes are always welcome!
CMA Members Fee: £25 Non-members Fee: £65
Please note that if there are insufficient bookings for the course to run by 30th April, then the course will have to be cancelled. A full refund will be given in the event of this happening.
