About this event

This introductory module has been developed in partnership between the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership and Barnardo's.

The training has the following aims:

1. To develop understanding of the concepts behind the potential impact of childhood adversity and trauma across the life course

2. To understand how to recognise the signs of trauma in behaviour.

3. To recognise and understand the potential impact of working with trauma, including concepts such as vicarious trauma.

4. To gain a basic understanding into how an organisation can begin a journey towards a trauma-informed organisational culture.

Overview:

A free, 3.5hr webinar, this course offers something both for those who are new to childhood adversity (ACEs) and trauma as a concept and those with some existing prior knowledge. It is aimed at both those who work with children and young people AND those who work regularly with adults.

This course discusses trauma. Trauma can be a multisensory experience, it can happen to anyone at any point in their lives, it may leave us with unexpected moments of overwhelm. During this training we try to make it as safe as possible and provide you with take care warnings throughout and offer emotional regulation techniques.

Whilst we do like to see faces on screen if you prefer to keep your camera off that is your choice which we respect. We will provide opportunities for you to participate to help embed the learning, this will be through the chat function on the platform that we are using, the opportunity to unmute if you would like to and menti.com

We do not use breakout rooms in this training.
