Since 2018, in collaboration with Young Devon, Response and Oxford Health, Oxfordshire Youth has been successfully delivering mental health training to schools, youth organisations, professionals and volunteers in order to upskill frontline staff who work with children and young people.

An Introduction to Children and Young People’s Mental Health training embraces the idea that positive mental health is everybody’s responsibility. The training has been designed to support frontline staff to promote their part in our national culture shift which embraces social and emotional wellbeing and responds early to signs of mental health problems.

The training takes a non-clinical approach and it’s designed to upskill and support frontline staff by giving them the tools to:

• empower individuals to have responsibility for the wellbeing of everyone around them

• better recognise and respond to early signs of mental health problems of children and young people

• improve emotional literacy and resilience of children and young people

• reflect on their own mental health and how this could impact upon the children and young people

• reflect on any improvement opportunities within their own work setting

• grow their knowledge and understanding of other services available

The training is delivered in two parts:

Part I – 7th July 5-7 p.m

Part II – 14th July 5-7 p.m

Each part of the training lasts 2 hours and includes presentations and group work, providing the opportunity to speak with other professionals and volunteers about young people’s mental health.

Please book tickets for both parts. In order to gain certification at the end of this training, you will need to attend both PART I and PART II.

Prior to the session, a Zoom link will be sent by email to those who have registered for this training.
