It is known that children who go missing from home or care are at risk of suffering harm and there are specific risks around children running away and the risk of sexual exploitation. This course will provide Hampshire professionals with an introduction to the police definition of 'missing', how to report a child or young person 'missing' and explore the risks that children might be exposed to whilst 'missing'. This course is open to all professionals working with children and young people, including schools, health colleagues and social worker/family support workers.


Learning Outcomes:

- Understand the definition of 'missing'

-Understand the process of reporting a child missing and responses

-Understand the purpose of Return Home Interviews/Missing Conversations and how these help inform planning

-Understand the role of push and pull factors

-Highlight some of the risks which can be associated with missing episodes

-Reflect on professional considerations for practice

-Provide details of Local Authority points of contact in relation to missing children
