Event description

Description

This training session will be for anyone interested in taking over a disused piece of land or a building and using it for a community project.

One of our network members, Lee Robb, from Positive Carrickfergus and the Repair Cafe now works with DTNI on asset transfers and will provide introduction to Community Asset transfers training.

We’ll include examples of community projects that have taken ownership of public assets, and others that have gained meanwhile use. We were going to cover the official route to achieve asset transfer – including a business plan, and proposal, but also how to make use of existing relationships: mapping who you know that could pull strings and help make it happen.

We will encourage people to think of unused places and spaces near them and look into who owns them or who to ask about them.

We are also going to try and take over ownership of an old red BT phonebox in the middle of Belfast and we can discuss on the day what to do with it, as a creative team building exercise.
