About this event
Community Sponsorship is a way that friends and neighbours can welcome refugees through the UK Resettlement Scheme and Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme.
The group supports the family through their first year in the UK to live independent lives, learn English, and access schools, benefits, healthcare and employment and participate fully in the community.
RESET (an organisation who support current and potential sponsors with information, training and networking opportunities) will talk to us about how Community Sponsorship can transform our lives and neighbourhoods.
“Community Sponsorship is a shared endeavour. Individuals who may or may not already know each other form a group and work together to prepare for and welcome a refugee family to their local area. When communities lead the welcome, refugees have the benefit of a local support network right from day one.” RESET
The session will be relaxed and informal, with plenty of opportunity to answer questions.
We'll be meeting online via Zoom.
This event is hosted jointly by the Compassionate Communities Team (Diocese of London), the Diocese of Southwark and Caritas Westminster.
